she rolls with the punches

"My mother stopped being a constant figure early on in my life. One of my most prominent memories of her is that she had a passion for boxing. This inspired me to begin taking lessons a year and a half ago. For this project, I photographed female boxers throughout New York City to create a connection with the resilience they embody. For the first time in months, I reached out to my mom about the project and she shared a beautiful self-portrait. Wearing the old wraps and gloves she left behind, I re-created the image, which allowed me to grow closer to her."
